You must have visited my web page to be reading this note.
First of all let me tell you what my graphics library is all about. With a couple of
colleagues from work, we intend to code a game. First we needed a fast library, but which
platform, Dos or Windows? Because the defacto standard is getting towards windows, we chose
this platform under DirectX.

I started off using system memory for bitmap manipulation, blitting manipulated sprites to
a virtual screen in system memory and then blitting this screen to the DirectX Screen Buffers.
The frame rate for this method was about 38fps which is not bad but I wanted something faster.

So the next step was to use DirectX surfaces directly. This led to a frame rate of about 74 fps
which I was satisfied with. Also using the video processor to shift all the graphics data freed
up the main processor to do other jobs like AI.

By doing it this way though, I've lost some functuality like flip drawing on horizontal and
verticle axis. I tried direct draw flipping but it turned out to be very slow. Eventually
there will be flipping, scaling and rotating.

I've included the source code so you can see what it is doing. You may have noticed that
some of this code is based around the mame source. If you do change the code or write a good
game please email it to me at matty_cross@hotmail.com. Even if you cannot code but have a
good idea for a game and wish to be involved in a project please send me a message.

If you cannot make head nor tail of the little demo code that i've written please email me
and I will send you more info on the way the functions work.

Well anyway happy coding.
